During the test
What the actual test looks like
During the test, you can expect to answer a few questions about your current and past eye problems. You will then do a vision check, followed by some quick and easy eye health tests.

What your renewed prescription will look like
OD
An abbreviation for the Right Eye. This comes from the Latin term "Oculus Dexter."
OS
An abbreviation for the Left Eye. This comes from the Latin term "Oculus Sinister."
Sph
An abbreviation for Sphere. This is the power of the your eye. If the number has a minus sign (–) in front of it, you are nearsighted. If it has a plus sign (+) in front of it, you are farsighted.
Cyl
An abbreviation for Cylinder. If there is a number in this column, then you have an astigmatism. This means that the front of your eye is shaped more like a football instead of a basketball. Having a football shaped eye is perfectly normal and does not mean there is anything wrong with your eyes. It is like being short vs being tall, or having long hair vs short hair.
Axis
This is the direction your of your astigmatism, similar to North, South, East, or West. This means that you need a bit of help reading text that is up close. This typically only applies when you reach a certain age (e.g. 40s.)
